After producer Kjell Larsson watched Nightmare On Elm Street he got the idea for a horror movie to be filmed in his home country of Sweden. He teamed up with Peter Borg, Anders Jonsson and Johan Dernelius who co-wrote the script. Peter Borg became the Director.
The actors selected were all unknown except for Harald Treutiger, a popular and loved TV personality. Treutiger plays Steve in the movie. Larsson insisted that all actors should speak English which was unheard of in Swedish film productions.
In and around Malmo, a city in southern Sweden was the chosen film location except for the opening scenes which were filmed in Dallas, TX. Its unknown if Larsson insisted that one of the opening scenes should include the Elm Street road sign, but there it is.
